Glorious Empires started as a hobby, as a keen collector of 30 mm flats, over a period35 years, I commissioned the designing and engraving of a large collection of Moulds and figurines mainly for my own pleasure and that of collector friends.
I bought a collection of unused Rousselot designs from the famous Mignot Archives and decided to have them all the engraved, as was Henri Rousselot intention.
To create new sets of figures, according to my own taste, I used only the best available designs from the older famous designers L.Madelener and Eugene Leliepvre as well as more recent designers.
In 2005 I decided to get out of the rat-race and dedicate all my remaining time to collectors items made by fine artists and quality craftsmen.
Figurines, specially commissioned oil paintings and hand-made historical ships are my main interests.
To coordinate all this “Glorious Empires” was created and now, after a long delay due to the difficulty of finding good and reliable painters, we begin with figurines, painted and un-painted.
Using the centuries old technique of hand-engraving into stone (slate) moulds, and casting by hand, we are creating new lines of figurines aimed at specialist collectors markets such as “religious/biblical scenes, civilian figurines/scenes with a cultural and historical theme (such as market places, old professions and Jane Austin characters) as well as specialist production for Historical and Art Museums.
A new line of figurines, in 54 mm scale, is created specially for collectors and painters of round figurines in 54 mm scale, hoping to win over some of these collectors by exciting designs and quality finishing.
And, to find new collectors, many figures will become available already painted in various styles so that people with a special historical interest can now buy a set of relevant figurines to complement their period/special interest.
In July 2007 we start with an exciting new range of historical sailing ships, 100% handmade to original plans and drawings, each ship takes from 100 to 700 hours to build with painstaking precision.
More information on our products you can find under the various headings of this web-site.
Various new products and services will be offered during the months to come, details of which you will find in the “Glorious Irregular”.
I welcome you on this exciting journey to create some of the best in hand-made craftsmanship that todays world has to offer.
Yours Sincerely,
Jacques G.H. Vullinghs.
